LAND-BASED, STRATEGIC THERAPY: INDIGENOUS SOLUTIONS TO COLONIAL PROBLEMS

Leah’s unique approach to psychotherapy is explicitly anti-colonial and land-based, supporting processes of recovery from Colonial Fragmentation Disorder. CFD is the term Leah uses to describe the processes of separation, numbing and individualism that impact all people living under colonial (and especially setter colonial contexts).

Unlike typical dialogic therapy, this land-based Indigenous approach to wellbeing, expands beyond the colonial paradigm to acknowledge Indigenous histories, realities and strength-based narratives. This process of recovery also requires keen attention to the invisible processes and impacts of colonial oppression, affirming both the strengths and suffering that are invisibilised by colonial systems.
