MIXED MEDICINE
“Mixed Kids need Mixed Medicine”
Mixed medicine is an approach to healing, learning and belonging through group work in the tradition of talanoa or story sharing. Through dialogue, silence, connection, rupture, repair, recovery and discovery, Mixed Medicine Circles are a collective journey over a period of 6 sessions where participants explore culture, trauma, intergenerational healing, identity, critical theory, history, legacy and the many wisdoms that each person brings to the group.
Mixed medicine is primarily dialogue based but responds to the needs of the group. It is ochre, rose water and tourmaline as it is Ru Paul, Beyonce and queer theory. It is poetry, words and language reclamation as it is memes, hashtags and thirst traps. It is native pride, black pride, queer pride as is is tender conversations on woundedness, shame and yearning. It is whatever we make it within a culturally safe, responsible commitment to nourish ourselves and each other as best we can.
The sessions are open to anyone who identifies as having mixed marginalised identities and is hungry for healing.
