Healing in/from the colony is the title of Leah Manaema Avene’s research into colonial oppression and it’s impacts on mental health and wellbeing. Mixed Medicine Community Sessions are a way of sharing this academic and communally informed research, and hearing from the communities the research seeks to serve - BIPOC and other communities marginalised within the colonial paradigm, and anyone committed to anti-oppressive practice and social justice.
Mixed Medicine Community Sessions are hosted monthly on zoom, as a free offering to those seeking community, support and company in their healing journey, where healing is understood as the collective pursuit toward liberation, equity and justice.
These sessions are open to anyone interested in anti-oppressive practice, social justice movements and re imagining an equitable future. The sessions are designed to be responsive to the community so they will grow in collaboration with the group.
